Fun footage

Check out this most amusing video of Henry's cake and cupcake bonanza.  Thanks to Kirk, cinematographer extraordinaire for capturing this moment!

Henry vs. the cupcake

April Fool!

Sorry for the somewhat delayed update.  Things have been busy in Millbrook and I've been doing lots of freelance work which is great for the pocketbook, but not so good for the frequency of blog updates!  But, the most exciting thing that happened since my last post was that a certain special someone had his first birthday!

Someone likes chocolate!  He ate a cupcake in 2 seconds flat.
Look at that little face!  Isn't that what a kid's 1st Birthday photo is supposed to look like?  Can you even believe that he's already 1?!

We had a great party for the little man, and because he's such an April Fool, the day was full of shenanigans.  The food included mud pies and fish & chips.

I also made jello in glasses with straws in them so the kids though it was juice (hilaaaaaairious!) and there were whoopie cushions, and lots of 'kick me' signs to stick on peoples backs. Ahhh, good pranks = good fun. And if you ever want to keep a pack of children entertained for hours, go with the whoopie cushion. Fart noises never get boring, apparently.

Some of the esteemed guests

King Henry quite enjoyed himself and wasn't above giving himself a round of applause, in the spirit of celebration.

Yes, I'm fabulous!

Aside from a minor cake malfunction due to some overzealous glazing, all went well there, even with Henry trying to sample the wares.  Evy was a big help in spraying the top of the cake with saliva when blowing the candle out.

Looks yummy, mummy!

And, despite there being a 'no present' rule, Henry got lots of loot, including this fancy new tool belt from Rob.  Never too early to get him out in the shop, eh Daddy?

Handy little man

I now have a full year to figure out some new pranks for next year's party. Mud pies with real mud perhaps?  A dynamite stick for a candle?  Or possibly forgetting to send out the invitations and having a quiet day at home!  I guess we'll find out in April 2013!

Happy Birthday little Hen!

When bad desserts happen to good people

Sir Henry is prone to grabbing whatever food he can reach and jamming it into his mouth. He's kind of like a garbage disposal that way. For example, there seem to be a lot fewer of those pesky orange ladybugs lying around on the floor since he started crawling.

These pics are from a few weeks ago when the young sir decided to acquaint himself with those horrible smutty chocolate (?) smut rolls. He was KEEN!

Yum

Someone had his first taste of rice cereal today. It was scary. Not for him, but for me. I was worried he was going to gnaw my arm off once he got on to the idea of 'food'. Luckily, there were no injuries, and a lovely breakfast was had by all.

6 weeks!?

Has it really been six weeks since this little man came into the world?

It has gone by SO quickly (yet every night is an eternity - go figure that out! Might have something to do with his EXCESSIVE appetite!).

We're hanging in there. Life with 2 kids is definitely an adjustment. I dream about all the 'free' time I had before. Like when I splurged and washed my hair. Or remembered to go pee. Sigh. I know these are the crazy weeks, and that things will (slowly) improve. I shall look forward to unburned dinners, getting more than 3 hours of sleep at a time, and the luxury of wearing clothes out of the dresser and not out of the heap of clothes on the bedroom floor.

And then Henry gives me a smile and a coo, and it's all worth it. So, there ya go, that's why people continue to have kids, even though it almost destroys your sanity.

Happy (rainy) weekend everyone!

Spring?!

We had 'Spring' this weekend, at least for a few hours. Check out Lee's blog for some beautiful photos of the fishing and playing shenanigans from Saturday. The nice weather was short-lived though, based on the weather forecast of rain, rain, and just a bit more rain. At least the flowers will be happy. These tiny tulips came out to say 'hi', but none of my other flowers including my daffodils are out yet. (No doubt scared off by the freezing overnight temperatures).

And speaking of growing, a certain wee man seems to be getting heftier and heavier. As of last Monday, he was about 10lbs and we go back on Thursday. Will be interesting to see how much he's gained, since he seems to have almost grown out of the 0-3 month size of his sleepers! (The 'Oh Henry' easter egg from Granny and Poppa probably helped, although he got it second hand - yum!).

Here is the handsome fellow on Easter Sunday, checking out his haul:

I love the look on his face in this picture - like he really wants to eat both the chocolate and the bear. What can I say? He's a hungry little dude and reminds me of that at 2.5 hour intervals all day and night.

Will be SO bizarre to have a giant hungry kid after dealing with miss-Mini for the past few years. Maybe the ever-growing spectre of her baby brother will encourage her to finish her supper?! I predict they'll be the same size and weight by the end of the year. Will make it easier to get them dressed in the morning, anyway. (Henry will look adorable in pink overalls, I just know it).
