Miss Evy

Here are some new pics of the wee miss. Sorry I've been neglecting the bloggy... better than neglecting the baby, I say!!

More cottage time!

Miss Evy had yet another cottage get-away this week - this time up to great granny Barbara's cottage on Mississauga Lake. A good time was had by all, except for the giant beetle that landed in Evy's bassinette that had to be dispatched.

Granny made one of her famous pies, with freshly picked blueberries, and I got the chance to rest and relax, because my mom won't let me change a diaper when she's around! So Evy was spoiled too by lots of attention from 3 generations!

We're off to Redrox for more cottage fun on Sunday - hope to stay up there for a few days! Gotta love having a baby in the summer! What would I be doing if it was February?? Brrr!

Happy Birthday Rob!

Happy Birthday to husband dearest, who turns an elderly 33 today! Old man!
I guess now that he's a daddy, he'll turn mature and dignified!

Even though he's at work today, and not home with his girls, we're hoping he has a great day. Evy & I are sending kisses and love.

On the road to Ottawa

Evy and I had our first road-trip last week from Wed to Friday. We went (with Granny-Al) to Ottawa for a few days to escape the renovations here in Millbrook. (Rob is finishing up Evy's bedroom - a big job which included sanding & re-finishing floors, priming and painting walls, and installing wainscotting!).

Evy quite enjoyed her first trip to our Nation's Capital, and especially liked meeting her cousins, Charley and Sammy and of course Auntie Peeps and Uncle Chris. We had a great time. Thanks to Peewee for being such a great hostess. Evy says she misses you!

Here are some pics for your enjoyment:

Evy has a bit of growing to do to catch up to beautiful baby Sammy!

Evy and Sammy say 'hullo' for the first time. (Moms die laughing at the size difference!)

Somehow, Lee contorted herself enough to fit in between two car seats for our shopping trip.

Charley and Lee get creative with Mr Potato head features. Nice specs! Lee, your lipstick is a bit severe though!

Fun at the cottage

On Tuesday, to celebrate the 1-week birthday of the wee miss, we went up to the cottage for the day. She quite enjoyed the boat ride (or, rather, she didn't wake up for the boat ride) and slept most of the time on the island. I think she appreciated it though. We had a HUGE thunderstorm while we were up there, and she didn't wake up for that either, so I guess she was sleepy!

We picked blueberries, read, relaxed, and enjoyed a quiet afternoon. A very special day to introduce Evy to a place that will become one of her favourite places on the planet, I imagine. She can look forward to lots of happy times there, learning to swim, having fun in the boat, and exploring the island.

Rob was up at Redrox when he was only 9 days old, so we think that Evy is now the youngest person ever to go up there! We can't wait to get back there, and have it booked for a whole week in August! Yay!

Snoozin' on the boatride

Snoozin' on the front porch

And, just for a change, snoozing on the Redrox sign. I don't think she'll fit in the 'D' for much longer!!

Sooo wonderful - Evelyn Maude Jackson

I'm sorry that I haven't updated this yet. If you're on Facebook you've already seen lots of pictures of the new little princess of Canadia...
She's SO beautiful! Evy arrived safe and sound, three weeks early, and came into the world as hundreds of fireworks went off across the country - so exciting! Her birthday will always be a holiday! She arrived on Canada Day - Tuesday July 1st at 11:04pm. She weighed 6lbs 1oz at birth, though she has lost weight (most babies do after birth) and is now only 5lbs 9oz, the poor wee miss! We need to fatten her up!

The labour & delivery was surprisingly great - thanks to an epidural that numbed me from the ribcage down - I couldn't move or feel ANYTHING! (Let's all pause to praise the epidural as the most wonderful invention in the history of humankind).

We're home now after an extended stay in the hospital -(baby Evy has jaundice but is now on the mend). She seems to like Millbrook, and we certainly like having her home! We went for a walk around town last night all, and, she seemed to enjoy it, though I think she was asleep the whole time!

She's already had lots of visitors, and everyone falls in love with her instantly - she's just so cute! Here are some pictures for you, lots and lots more to follow over the next few days... weeks... years!!
