The blue eyed boy

Happy '11 Days Til Christmas' to one and all. Have you been out today? If so, you no doubt enjoyed streets packed with crazed shopping-blinded drivers, doing their best to kill pedestrians and sideswipe innocent cars in search of the next purchase. Ah, bless us every one - it really is a magical time of year.

For us, things are much less chaotic. Evy has asked for a colouring book and a hairband for xmas. $2 at Dollarama later, and she's crossed of the list. And I'm truly blessed to come from a family where instead of giving presents, we give each other indigestion. Or love. I can never remember which.

And I have no excuse as to why it's been so long between posts. Well, actually I have a dozen excuses (computer in for repair twice, lack of sleep, general festive events with many parades etc to enjoy) but the main reason is the wee blue eyed boy.

Can you believe he's almost 8.5 months? He's still not sleeping well, so I went back to remind myself what Evy was like at the same age. Not much better, alas.

Anyway, I shall live in hope that things get better soon. He has had 2 fairly good nights, so fingers crossed this trend continues. In the meantime, it sure is good that he's so cute:

Special delivery in time for Xmas, anyone?

And finally, we did our 'bowl' shots recently and the lil' dude looked great in his first ever bowl photo.  Isn't he too cute?

7 months (and 1 day)

My beautiful blue-eyed boy is 7 months old! How did that happen? He is a lovely, happy, smiley, and very handsome wee man. The only complaint? He's still pretty sure he's a newborn baby and needs to eat every 3 hours overnight. One look at his hefty thighs tells me that he's not wasting away, so I shall live in hope that this trend will come to an end. Soon.

Lucky for him that he's so darn cute, otherwise, he'd be sleeping out in Rob's workshop in a pile of wood shavings. 7 months! Onwards to walking, talking, and crazy shenanigans!

The 35-month old and the 2-month old

June 1st! Summer is here (in every way except on the calendar) and we've been adjusting to the new steamy temperatures! (Why did we decide not to get air conditioning when we got the new furnace? Something about reducing our carbon footprint, saving energy, blah blah blah... sorry, I can't remember, I'm too darn hot).

Hard to believe Mr Henry is 2 months old! And also hard to believe that our little pipsqueak is turning 3 in a month! (I pulled out her summer clothes from last year and she's still fitting into the shorts and capris - some of them size 12 months). Oh well, she actually eats her dinner a few nights a week, so I'm not too worried. Now if I could just convince her that pooping on the toilet is cool, we'd be set.

Here are the two cuties having a snuggle:

I think we've reached a turning point (knocking heavily on many species of wood) with Mr H. The days are more good than bad, and the nights are steadily improving (he slept a 5-hour stretch last night - woot woot!). And, Miss E makes me laugh every day. She's a pretty funny girl, and her imagination is into overdrive. We spend most nights re-writing the plotlines of her favourite books and her giggle is just about the best noise in the world.

So, what's with all this love and chipperness? (I swear it's not just delirium from sleep deprivation... or, wait... actually, it probably is.) The only dark cloud on the horizon is the fact that Al & Jim aka Granny and Poppa are loading up the truck from the loooong drive to New Brunswick. Sob! They leave on Sunday and we're missing them already! Must go right now and book our trip to visit them in July.

Happy June to one and all, and enjoy this fine (finally!) weather.

6 weeks!?

Has it really been six weeks since this little man came into the world?

It has gone by SO quickly (yet every night is an eternity - go figure that out! Might have something to do with his EXCESSIVE appetite!).

We're hanging in there. Life with 2 kids is definitely an adjustment. I dream about all the 'free' time I had before. Like when I splurged and washed my hair. Or remembered to go pee. Sigh. I know these are the crazy weeks, and that things will (slowly) improve. I shall look forward to unburned dinners, getting more than 3 hours of sleep at a time, and the luxury of wearing clothes out of the dresser and not out of the heap of clothes on the bedroom floor.

And then Henry gives me a smile and a coo, and it's all worth it. So, there ya go, that's why people continue to have kids, even though it almost destroys your sanity.

Happy (rainy) weekend everyone!

A dozy kind of day

This is how our Saturday morning started out. A very dozy day, but a perfect time for some father/son bonding (with snoring).
