The Maine Event

We had a great Easter weekend on our Maine roadtrip. Other than the drive down, the weather was chilly but sunny, and we had lots of fun shopping, sightseeing, and cruising the highways and byways of New England.

It might be the last roadtrip for a while, considering that you can't really take a wee smurf on a 10 hour roadtrip, but, we really enjoyed it. And we had the all important stops at the Olive Garden and Cracker Barrel to hold us over on our American Restaurant cravings for a while!

All is well here, except that it's still bloodeh' winter! We've just had another 5cm of snow, and my drive home from work was VERY unpleasant today. Oh well, winter can't last forever, right? And I keep telling myself that all the snow is good for the water table, and will help prevent forest fires, etc. etc. (See? My new job has affected me already!).

Here are some pics from the Maine adventure for your perusal.

A very unpleasant winter storm south east of Montreal... this was when the driving was still 'good'. I was too scared to take a picture later on, when we passed a 9-car pileup and had full on white-out conditions. Rob drove like a champ though, and we got through many hours later, safe and sound.

It made me feel better to see that snow levels were just as high south of the border. This was along the roadside in New Hampshire, and, because it was taken from a moving car, you can't actually tell that the snowbanks must have been over 5 ft tall. Some of the signs we passed were completely covered and you could only see the tops of them!

Worshipping at the mecca of LL Bean. We had a lot of fun shopping, and enjoying Freeport, which is a beautiful town - if slightly creepy because it's too perfect and quaint.

Hangin' on Wells Beach, along the coast. We had a nice walk along the ocean, and enjoyed pretenting that it was warm and that we were somewhere a bit more exotic. It is a beautiful part of the world, and I'd love to go back and spend a week or two driving all through New England. Very lovely indeed!

Spring?

The word on the street is that it's almost Spring. I'll believe it when I see it!

Rob & I are off to Freeport, Maine this weekend to see some sights and have a fun Easter road-trip. Should be a good time! The LL Bean outlet store is located there, so I'm sure we'll have in some quality shopping time too. And now that I'm a working woman, I can spend relatively guilt free! Woo woo woo!

In the meantime, here's a picture from after the snow storm we had back on March 8th. It was a doozy! Poor Rob, he had an awful lot of shovelling to do!

Rob gets ready to tackle the snow outside the back door

I'm outta here! Three posts in one day!? I don't want ya's all to get spoiled - must get back to my twice a month regimen! Though, maybe I'll post some pics from our Maine roadtrip.

Hope the choco bunny brings lots of treats to everyone!

Just for you, blue!

A secret message for a special friend: I miss you! I saw this sign on the way to Ottawa and knew it was a sign! Literally and figuratively, obviously! Does this mean you have booked your flight for maplefest, perhaps?!

Sammy!

I had a great weekend in Ottawa, spending some quality time with the sistah's and the muttha' and of course the fabulous nephews! Baby Sammy is SO beautiful and he's such a good baby. As always, Charley was adorable and hilarious. We had such a good time - I can't wait to see them all again! I hope it's soon!

Soooorrry!

Sorry it's been a while since I posted - sheesh. I don't know how people do this whole 'working' thing! I have officially survived Week II of work. It's going well, and I really like all the people I work with. (Except Dennis... he's got scurvy).

We are slowly being buried under ANOTHER 30 cm of snow. Sadly, this meant cancelling a fun day today - we were expecting 12 friends from Toronto, plus assorted babies, toddlers, and kiddies. Alas, the drive would have been too awful with this ridiculous blizzard. Right now I'm sitting in our living room and the wind is howling - it sounds like fake cartoon wind. Oh well, I'm glad we're safe and sound at home, with a couple of movies to watch tonight. That is if Rob ever comes back inside from his 'man playhouse' (no, it's not a rude man hangout - it's his beautiful workshop).

As requested by popular demand (or demanded by popular request) here is a picture of me from today. Fatty fat fat.
