Rollin'

What says Springtime like a little hill rollin?  (Also captured here by Lee).

Oh, to be young and bendy!  Evy thought this was the most fun ever, and Henry, Sam and Charley had to agree.  Pure entertainment for the adults too.  Can't wait to spend lots more time at the Peterborough Zoo this summer!

It's beginning to look a lot like...

...that time of year when kids start being completely insane. Santa-mania has hit the HigginJacks household big-time.

Here's the letter Evy dictated to me. She's hilarious. I shall transcribe for you in case you can't read it on the photo.

Dear Santa Claus,

I love you. I love toys. I love Christmas.
I'd like toys and to set up my Christmas tree.
I'd like a princess table. Rudolph has a best friend
with a bow in her hair. I'd love a teapot and an Ariel
doll for Henry. I'd like a teddy bear and a reindeer
with a rudolph nose.

When you come to visit we will leave cheese and
toast and macaroni and cheese.

My best friends are Maia and Ethan and Santa Claus.
Also, Henry would like a big grown up Snowman. And
I'd like a pink car and a hippo and my own computer.

love, Evy

Girls just wanna have fun

Had a very fun girl's weekend get-away a few weeks ago. The gang travelled to Niagara on the Lake, which is a beautiful spot. We rented a lovely house around the corner from the main street and had a great time getting caught up and laughing ourselves silly.

Henry was the only man allowed, and he quite enjoyed having six mommies to tend to his every need and whim. He was a good boy and behaved himself and didn't cramp our style too much as we stayed close to the house mostly, for banner games of 'Drinking Operation' (much more challenging than the original), Bananagrams (and awesome game that I'd highly recommend for you word-nerds) and some top-quality dancing, complete with lampshades on heads.

A great time was had by all, and I can't wait for our next weekend. Dare I say, next time there may be no babies joining us? Bring on the fun, ladies! And we're already planning our 2015 NYC extravaganza to celebrate our 40th birthdays in a few years. Woot woot! The big apple won't know what hit it! BYOL (Bring your own lampshade!)

The lovely house we rented
With 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms would be great for
a family or New Years Eve party

Out for a stroll with Henry
(and a statue of George Bernard Shaw)

It's all fun and games until the lampshades come out

I can't recommend the property managers enough. Here's the house we rented: http://www.governorswalk.ca. We ate lunch at this pub and it was fantastic, and had a great time strolling the streets, having coffee, gelato, and doing some shopping. A great weekend indeed. Now the sad work of waiting another year before our next getaway!

Sumo

It seems our little man is already interested in girls. Or to clarify, one particular babe (well, baby, really). He met her yesterday in bed and things moved quite quickly from that point, with Henry kissing (and biting!) her quite a bit. Luckily, she didn't seemed bothered by the attention, even when he whipped her around and pinned her like a Sumo wrestler.

Here are the two lovebirds. Let's hope Evy doesn't mind the abuse her doll took at the hands of already-bratty-baby-bro!

He spots her from across the room

With a coy glance and a bite to her bum, so began the wooing

A little serenading is in order

Such joy, such glee!

Giving her a twirl

A quiet snuggle

The ever-popular face mash massage

Um mom, can we have some privacy please?

Hard to believe little man is almost SIX MONTHS! Where has the time gone?!

Zooooo, Part Twoooo

I'm sure you've already been over to Lee's blog where she posted some excellent pictures of our fun at the zoo yesterday, but I wanted to add a few from my camera.

A good time was had by all. An overcast day + school back in session = almost empty zoo for us to roam in! It was my first time witnessing the otter feeding, which was very entertaining. And, it was Lee's first time wrangling three kids in the bathroom at the same time. Not enough hand sanitizer in the world, people.

Swing pusher, butt-wiper, slide slider, super-mom/auntie!

The view from the top
(of the super-slide, that is!)

In other news, we've had a (mild and possibly non-existent) case of chicken pox here. Cousin Sam is inflicted and after Ev had a fever of 102 last week and then some mystery red dots (but less than 10) we figured better safe than sorry. So, no daycare for her this week (she usually goes 3x a week). It's been surpisingly ok having her home, though pretty sure that's all to do with being down in Port Hope for 7 hours on Tuesday and then at the zoo all morning yesterday!. Misery loves company, or something along those lines!

Happy back to schook week for all of you school-bound friends! And, if you're in the Millbrook region this weekend, don't miss the Zuchinni Festival on Sunday. It's seriously the most fun you'll ever have with a Zuchinni!
