Beautiful baby

Introducing my beautiful new nephew, Samuel Fielden Jones.
He arrived safe and sound yesterday, weighing 8lb 9oz.
Mom & baby are doing just great - and I can't wait to visit them to meet the wee lil' man.

What I learned today

Lesson #1: Don't put your brand new beautiful waffle weave duvet cover on your bed the night before your first day of work. If this advice is not heeded, it's possible that you might somehow wrap your duvet under your cheek, and wake up looking like a 'leggo my eggo' freak. Results might also include driving to work, rubbing your cheek furiously to remove waffle dents.
(And, no, that's not an actual picture of my duvet - I may be a nerd but I'm not THAT much of a nerd. Besides, I'm a working girl now and don't have time to take silly pictures... at least for today).

My weekend in pictures

Just back from a FUN trip to Ottawa. Had a great time visiting Lee, Chris, Charley and Kizzy, and of course hangin' out with my mom.

Picture #1: Have arrived in Ottawa for nephew Charley's 2nd birthday party. Please note: Charley is TWO. I am THIRTY TWO. I am wearing my pyjamas. Charley is still in his regular clothes. What can I say? I was sleeeeepy! And Charley didn't mind. The flannel p.j's made it easier for him to grope my bosom.

Picture #2: Worship Lee, and her beautiful baby belly. She's scheduled for a c-section on Thursday, and hopefully she can hang in there. In this picture, she's showing how THRILLED she is to be constantly asked, "How many are in there?" and, "Gosh, you look like you're going to explode." It's amusing because she pulls out a kick-ass Gladriel 'dark queen' tirade on the unsuspecting nosey fools, but it's NOT amusing to be on the receiving end of said tirade.

Picture #3: After a few FUN days, have a final snuggle with Charley, and tell him that I'll still love him once he has a younger sibling.

Now - back to reality (and to the working world!) Am sooo happy that we've had so many nice sunny days in a row! It gives me hope that Spring is on its way!

Working Girl!

Wow! Just when I was getting used to being retired at 32, I got a contract at the Ministry of Natural Resources. Yay! I start tomorrow, and am very excited to re-join the working world. And I'm even more excited to actually be making some money! Yay yay!

So, wish me luck. I hope I remember how to do key things, like use a telephone, and spell, and play nicely with others.

Poor Robbie!

The contrast of these two pictures made me laugh (and also broke my heart a bit! I'm sick of winter!)

Robbie enjoying the view, the sun, and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fran on Saturday

Robbie NOT enjoying the minus 20 temp, the foot of snow on the car,
and the wind in Toronto on Sunday.

California Dreamin'

We're (reluctantly) back from San Fran. We had a great time. I could have stayed another week (or forever?). The temperature was a balmy 18 degrees, compared to minus 18 here! Brrr! Rob made the most of his time, even though he got called away to his conference on Wed, Thurs, and Friday morning. I had lots of fun exploring the city by myself, and then we spent most of Friday and all of Saturday together seeing the sights.

The lobby of our hotel - pretty swanky!

We had SUCH a good time. It was great to have a mini-holiday after a few months of no travel! It did my heart good, and our wee cargo enjoyed the trip too, or so I suspect.

Fun times in Millbrook

Emer & Brad came to spend the weekend, along with their genius adorable baby, Bernadette, and their genius adorable doggie Lulu. We had a great time, and ate like pigs, and were lazy, and even fired up the fireplace.

Here are some pics of the advenutures today when my mum & dad & granny came by to visit with the brood. (Jimmy hadn't seem Emer & Brad since our adventures in Turin in 2006!).

Happy February!

Well, with an 'Extreme Weather Warning' in effect for most of Ontario, I have NO pictures worth posting. Outside is white, snowy, blowy. Rob's away in Edmonton where it's fifty below!! So, I'm not looking forward to shovelling the driveway. Doh!

I light of all of this winter madness, I thought I should post a picture from happier and warmer climes. I've been daydreaming about Greece a lot lately - it was one of our favourite trips of all time. Here we are on the Island of Naxos. Soooo beautiful. If only I could beam myself over there right now. I'M SICK OF WINTER!

Oh well, at least we're off to San Fran next Wednesday, so, hopefully the weather will be a bit milder and I'll have some exciting pictures to post!!
