Viruses and other news

Sorry that the ole bloggy has been ridiculously neglected. I blame it all on that virus that's going around. No, it's not the sweeen flu - it's the stupid computer virus that knocked me out a few weeks ago. Doh! Rob was using my computer at the time, so I'm not sure just what kind of websites he was looking at. Of course, he's also the one that fixed it for me, so I shall not blame him.

We've been BUSY! (What else is new?). Work has been crazy - getting ready for all of our Christmas events, plus just finished our first newsletter today.

Also, this past weekend went to Montreal with my posse of friends. It was the first time I left Evy overnight. I missed her so much that it hurt, but managed to dull the pain with lots of laughs, shopping, dancing, dining and drinking with the ladies. If anyone could distract me with hilarity, it's that gang! And, Evy and Rob did great here. He maintains she didn't even know I was gone - mostly because he kept her busy with lots of fun daddy/daughter adventures. It's good to know that I can leave her now, though it's not something I plan on doing too often! I just miss her too much!

And, because you've surely been missing her too, here are some pics Rob took this afternoon while we were outside enjoying some autumnal splendor. Enjoy!

Thanks!

I loooooove Thanksgiving. It's one of my favourite 'holidays' of the whole year. I love the fall, I love the leaves, I love the chill in the air. I love having a day off work, and mostly I love the PIE! Pie, pie, pie!

We were up at Granny's cottage yesterday for our annual 'Higgy/Lee' dinner, which was as usual, entirely chaotic and hilarious. And it was beautiful up there. You drive 40 minutes north of here and the autumn leaves are in an entirely different class. So beautiful. Of course, I didn't take any pictures, but my mama is emailing me some, so I'll add them when I get them (just for you, Joan. I would TOTALLY be missing the fall and the leaves too, if I were you. Guess you'd better hurry up and move back to Ontario!).

After all the fun and food yesterday, we had another T-G'vin' day today, with Rob's parents and our friends, Joe & Trina. Lots more food (and if possible, a pumpkin cake ice-cream roll dessert that rivals pie).

Here are a few pics from our pre-meal walk:

Millbrook is lookin' good, isn't it? This last picture (above) is pretty much the view from our bedroom window. Dreamy! (Now, of course, in all of this 'love love love the fall talk', I'm purposely ignoring the whole '-2 degrees' thing for overnight tonight. Am NOT ready for that autumnal-reality yet!)

I hope EVERYONE is having a fabulous weekend and is taking the opportunity to be thankful for whatever it is you're thankful for. Me? It's family, food, and fun... and of course miss Evy, who I love more each day.

She's changed so much since last Thanksgiving, when we were still in the midst of colic-hell. Of course, I loved her more each day then too, but it was mostly 'cause each day that passed was one day closer to the end of the screaming insanity (her screaming, my insanity)! She has been so good lately - it's a joy to spend every day with her, and I'm pretty darn thankful for that.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

playtime with Sophie

We had a great day in Toronto on Sunday with our friends Chris and Marianne, and their 7-month old cutie, Sophie. Evy and Sophie hadn't seen each other for a few months, so they got straight to work, playing:

Chris stopped by to say hi to the girls, and obviously was a bad influence on them because afterwards, all they wanted to do was wrestle:

Evy, ready to pounce:

Waiting for the wrestling match bell to ring:

Evy tries to execute the steamroller maneuvre:

Oh oh! Sophie's got Evy in the dreaded ankle hold!:

Ahh, the ole' 'thigh-pinch' trick!:

The girls had LOTS of fun playing, and the adults had lots of fun catching up. Thanks for having us, guys!
