Foggy, foggy morn
It has been so foggy the past few mornings. Perfect setting for an Alfred Hitchcockesque horror film, but thankfully no such drama playing out in sleepy Millbrook.
Here's the Mill yesterday, looking suitably eerie:
The forecast for today is 21 degrees. That's downright chilly since earlier in the week they were projecting it would be around 26.
What a strange weather world we live in. We might need to rename the seasons if this keeps up. Sprummer? Summring? This was highlighted yesterday as I drove in to Peterborough with the snowtires on the car and the air conditioning running.
Now, enough pondering this odd weather - tis time to go outside and enjoy it!

March round-up
Are you sure it's March? The temperature is going up to 23 today and they're forecasting 27 tomorrow. Remember winter? It's long gone and considering there are mosquitoes flying around biting, I expect it's probably safe to put away the snowsuits and boots.

Things have been busy around the house. Evy had been going to daycare a few days a week and we're cutting that back now that my EI maternity benefits are over and I'm officially unemployed. (Though anyone who suggests that staying home with 2 kids isn't 'working' will get a sharp jab to the larynx).
Henry is almost walking and the kids are playing together more and more. Usually it involves Evy commanding Henry to do things, stealing his toys, and generally being the boss and bully that firstborns are. (Ahem, Lee.)

And, it's official. Both kids are wearing a size 2, at least in some clothes. The other day they were both wearing the same size of shirt. It was only a matter of time, considering how much food this little man consumes. To say that I need to sweep after his meals is an understatement. The more effecting cleaning method would be to lift the house off its foundations, take the roof off, and drive through a car wash. Vile. Filth.

With this crazy weather, we've been spending a lot of time outside. We're lucky to live next to a series of really wonderful trails that include bridges, boardwalks, and lots of tree-huggy beauty. Evy is a star rambler and will walk for 3km without complaint. (Not always the best plan since she then burns 10 times the amount of calories she usually consumes in a day).
Here we are a couple of weeks ago (when there was still a tiny bit of snow left) for a hike on a sunny day.

And, Spring is definitely in the air for our furred and feathered critters. We have a pair of chipmunks that are chasing each other all over and wrestling like Chip and Dale. Not sure if they are enemies or lovahs', but they sure are scampy. We also had a pair of Hairy woodpeckers flapping around looking for bugs. This jaunty fellow put on quite a show of using his mighty beak to shred bark off stumps and trees. Sorry the picture is awful, vintage wobbly glass in the windows doesn't lend itself to the clearest photos.

The princess and the pauper
A busy weekend here, lots of fun with the Port Hope gang including an enforced wintry march through the Millbrook trails yesterday.
Henry is (finally) sleeping better, Spring is enroute and I am starting to think about what seeds to start germinating! Will this be the year I actually have some time to spend in the garden? I do hope so!

Guess who is 11 months old today?
I cannot believe my BABY is 11 months old. Where has the time gone?
Guess I should start thinking about going back to work. Oh wait!!! I don't have a job to go back to! Ok, guess I'd better start thinking about a summer of fun with the kidlets. New Brunswick. The cottage. Maybe a week summer camp for Ev?
Might be getting ahead of myself. Let's get through winter first. Happy March everyone!
