Quiet day

The wee miss and I had a quiet day today, after a fairly hectic week. (My parents are in NB again, and so I've been on granny-duty, spending lots of time with 90-year old granny Barb. It's ok though, 'cause she cooks for me, so it's a fair trade to drive her to the grocery store).

It's been properly chilly the past few days - there was ice on the pond this morning - well, and this afternoon too. Brr! I know I've said this 100 times, but I am NOT ready for winter! Oh well. I think I'll buy some new winter boots to help ease the pain.

Tomorrow, we're heading in to town again to take Granny out, and we're also going to buy our new couches! Woot woot! Hopefully they arrive by Christmas!

Anyhoo, sorry this is the dullest post ever, but believe me, I'm very pleased to have had a quiet, lazy, dull day today! And of course, we're looking forward to Halloween tomorrow - I'll have to post a picture of Evy in her costume! Have a great night everyone! (Lee, I expect an update on your blog as to the shenanigans that Chris and Phil get up to this year!).

In the meantime, here's a few pics of wee Evy, looking cute on her new quilt.

Redemption

Rob has been working like a trooper for the past few hours, so I guess he's redeemed himself after his sleepy morning! The chicken coop (aka his home office) is almost wired up, and soon he'll be able to work out there. (Last Thurs. he had to do a conference call out in the freezing cold garage because poor Evy was grumpy and he needed quiet! So, he'll be pretty happy to get it finished up).

In other news, here is Evy trying out the fabric sample that I'm considering using for the new couches we're buying. I think she likes it!

Saturday, 12:26 pm

Me so far today = washed sinkful of dirty dishes, done 2 loads of laundry, made potato and leek soup, cleaned kitchen, and cleaned 2 toilets.

Rob so far today = sleeping on couch.

Auctions are fun, but....

... here are a few tips:

1. measure the rooms of your house, and take those measurements with you
2. don't buy GIANT rugs, no matter how beautiful they are!

Oh well, I think it's going to fit in the living room. I bought it for the dining room, but it will cover the heating vent in there - not so practical! Otherwise, anyone interested in buying a beautiful persian rug??

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

Yep. It's - 5 degrees.

Nooooooooooooooo!

Dying laughing

Evy and I went into Peterborough yesterday to get her passport pictures done. Here are the results - I've been dying laughing since we got them:

I hope that the customs officials in England and France don't fall over laughing when they look at her passport! Now we can only hope that good ole' Canada Passport gets it back to us in the promised 4 weeks, since it's only 51 days until we fly off! Yip yip yippeee!

Winter soon?

Yeah, I feel the same way about the advent of winter...

Electile Dysfunction

Just listening to CBC radio and they used the term 'Electile Dysfunction' which made me laugh and certainly feels appropriate this morning. I can't believe that the evil snake-eyed Harper is in charge again. I can't stand looking at that man's face... he makes my skin crawl!! Oh well, with no TV, and being occupied 100% of the time with a different wee tyrant, hopefully, I can just ignore all things political.

On a happier note, here are some cute pictures from the past few days:

Hangin' at the Zoo fountain - it was SO hot that day!

Ring-a-ding

Yay! After about five months of walking around looking like an unwed mother, my wedding bands fit again! Maybe there's hope that my big fat stomach, which still looks 5-months pregnant, might go back to normal too! Keeping my newly adorned fingers crossed!
* But am thinking that the 3 pieces of pie yesterday might NOT have helped matters.... doh! *

high-five for bling!

Shanksgiving

Just back from our 2nd Thanksgiving dinner. Last night we were at Rob's parents, and today we were with the Higgy/Lee clan up at Great Granny's cottage.

It's safe to say I've consumed a week's worth of calories in the past 30 hours.... Perhaps a brisk walk will be in order tomorrow.

Here are a few pics of Miss Evy tonight, in her beautiful brown velour Thanksgiving outfit. We think she looks like Obi Wan Kenobi ... a wee little jedi!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Explosion

Authorities have confirmed that at 8:00 a.m. eastern time, there was a massive poo-explosion in the small village of Millbrook, Ontario. The explosion, which read 8.0 on the Rectum scale, is believed to have taken place in the vicinity of Evelyn Maude Jackson's diaper.

At this time, no casualties have been reported, though experts agree that a serious health risk will be posed when it comes time to wash the clothes that Miss Jackson was wearing when the explosion took place.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Brrrr!

Brrrr! It was 1 degree outside when Evy and I got out of bed this morning. (I'd say 'when we woke up', but seeing as we were up at 2:30, 5:30, 6:45, and 7:30 and finally got out of bed at 8:00, I'm sure it was even colder when we were first awake!). Anyway, regardless of my sleep deprivation, it sure is CHILLY!!

We had a nice weekend here. Evy and I just hung out. On Saturday we went for a 6k walk along the Millbrook Valley Trails, which start right outside our house. It was beautiful, and we saw lots of wildlife including a giant pileated woodpecker. It was HUGE! I was worried that it would think Evy was a little bug to eat!

Rob was busy all weekend, working on the chicken coop all day Saturday and then closing up the cottage all day yesterday. So I imagine he's not feeling too well rested heading off to work this morning! (But neither am I, so we're even.... sorry, that's the last whinge-fest for the morning, I promise!)

Here are some pics from the weekend for your enjoyment:
Having a bath when it's chilly means wearing washcloth-attire

I like playing with my wooden toys

In other fun, Rob and I decided to do some close-up shots to see if we could detect a family resemblance. Of course, we ALL already know that Evy is a tiny carbon copy of Rob, but, I wanted to see if there was ANY resemblance to me! You be the jury!

bear with me

I'm trying to add a new 'comments' feature to my bloggy and am not having any luck.
So please bear with me while I try to figure it out.... (or at least until Dennis reads this and tells me what to do.... har har har).

Ole big eyes

Here are a few more funny pics of the wee madam:

having a snuggle with daddy
(I love the expression on her face!)

Lil' giant eyes! She looks sceptical!

All is well here - the sun has been out a bit - yay! And we had a crying-free morning (both me n' Evy!!). Of course, there has been some crabitude this afternoon, but, she is a baby afterall. I had to laugh the other day when she was crying and I said, "oh, you're such a crybaby"... and then I remembered that she IS actually a baby, so the crybaby thing is probably allowed!

Plans for the afternoon include baking pumpkin cookies (yet another recipe from Lee, aka The Martha Stewart of Ottawa).

Happy October, and 3 months old!

Hello from Millbrook-land, home of one tired mum and one beautiful three-month-old baby! (And of course of Rob, who has been working all-out getting our house ready for fall... and winter - bleh!).
We've had a busy week so far - Fall is in the air, and I've been in the mood for cooking and baking. Yesterday it was butternut squash soup (last week it was pumpkin bread - thanks pee for the recipe - and sweet potato soup ... yum!).
And of course, three months ago today a very special girl came into the world:

couch time with mum
(note drool on my leg... Evy's not mine!)
bathing beauty

couch shot - 3 months

The wee mademoiselle has also been spending more time in the swing. She is still enjoying it, and falls asleep in it quite easily... the trick is to sneak back every 10 minutes and wind it up again. (Yes, we have one with batteries, but she hates it. I think she likes keeping us on our toes!). The thing about the swing is, it's kind of hard to take a picture of her in it while it's moving! (As shown below).

Evy's knees

And here she is swingin' along

And, we've still been spending lots of time with great granny Barbara, who made us lunch again today. Evy really likes her and I think the feeling is mutual!

90-yr old and 3-month old have a cuddle

Soo, that's all from here. It's supposed to rain the next two days (bleh) but might be nice next week (yay!). We've got the fireplace on tonight - tis chilly! I keep saying we have to keep it warm for Evy's sake, but it might be for my own... brrr!

Oooh, and now on my list of things to do: get Miss Evy's passport! Looks like the wee miss and I are taking a holiday to England and France in December! Yay yay! Not all babies get to go the south of France! (And not all mommies get to go either!). Will be great to see all my friends from England that I'm missing so much, and am going with some of them to the south of France for a week... it's my early birthday present... thanks hubby!!! I'll try to limit the shopping at Harrods, moo haw haw haw! So, even if the weather is horrible, at least I have something to look forward to now (other than thanksgiving and all that pie!).
