Looking forward to (someday) being able to tie my shoes again!

39 weeks!
The belly is mighty and massive. I keep opening the fridge door onto it because I have no concept of my girth!

Spring Chickens
Behold the beauty of the sisters, who celebrated their birthdays this weekend. They may have a combined age of 66, but they look like spring chickens to me!
I hope the year ahead brings you both home renovation joy, happiness, adventure, and lots of laughter.

Nesting?
I would like to pretend that yesterday's craft blitz was 'nesting' (especially since it involves birds, har har) but I don't think you can call hacking up an old battered Audubon book with a kitchen knife and inserting pages into frames from Dollarama can really be considered crafting. At least in the Martha Stewart sense of the world.
Yet, even with all that malaise, the finished products are kinda awesome and will live on the wall of the new baby's room. Still going with a seashore theme in there, so love these feathered friends. And yes, I realize that cardinals aren't really 'water birds', but I love their jaunty redness, so they got framed too.
In terms of the room, holes for insulation drilled, closet re-jigged, wiring completed - all done by a very busy Rob. It's gonna be fabulous when it's done. Will post pics as soon as there's some esthetically pleasing progress!
Happy first day of Spring everyone! Am VERY glad to be bidding farewell to winter.

Workin' at the carwash
Is there anything that a 2.5 year old loves more than washing a car? Probably not. Except maybe washing a car while eating an ice cream cone and playing with a puppy.
Was a super-sunny-fabulous day here, so, Miss E and I decided to give the ole' wheels a scrub. She was suprisingly effective, so much so that I may put a sign at the end of the drive offering car washes for $10. She does have some trouble reaching anything higher than the door handle, so, it makes for an interesting two-toned look, but I think it works.
Here's the little washer-woman hard at work:
And on the topic of automobiles, I'm pleased to say that we finally got a new car. Well, it's new to us anyway. After driving a 1997 that has tried to kill and maim me in a number of ways, our flashy (read: totally boring mom-mobile) 2007 Toyota Corolla is going to feel like space-age luxury. (Power windows and locks? What the heck are those?). And people, BRACE YOURSELVES, it even has a freakin' sun roof. Because that's how I roll (now). Woot woot! (Now I just have to hope this isn't one of those super scampy Toyotas that drives itself around like Herbie the love bug!)
As for baby news: Not a darn thing to report. I've been hoping little doozer will come along early, but not even a twinge yet. Sigh. Send happy labour thoughts my way, please!

A belated tribute to Sir Sam
Having finally sorted through the pictures on my camera, I'm proud to share some photos with you from Sir Samuel's birthday celebration at the end of Feb. The day started with the Pancake Breakfast at the Lion's club (yum!) and ended with cake at chez nous. (Because the kids didn't get enough sugar with the drinking maple syrup, etc. Who says diabetic comas can't be jolly?)
Little big man hit the big '3'. Evy's still coming to terms with the reality that, for at least 4 short months, she and Sam are not the same age. Good for them to learn at a young age that life can be harsh. (She also thinks that she'll be starting school soon and that she'll get to take the bus. I'm trying to gently disabuse her of this notion. And only a 2 year old would think that a school bus was fun).
Here's little Sir, getting his cake on... while not having any pants on (though you can't tell from this picture. I guess we can blame Evy for their pantless state. Her new favourite pastime is being a 'nudesie'. )

Wayward glances?
Really not sure what those chimps are looking at in that last picture. Am going to go sit on the bottom step and look for giant cobwebs or secret toddler messages inscribed on the ceiling. What can I say, they are just weirdos.
So, happy (late) birthday wishes to Samuel, and of course to Charley too who turned the big 5 the week before. Crazy how fast those boys are growing up! And Evy too, I guess, although it'll be a while before she's in their weight class!

Giddy up!
Dashing through the snow... in a two-horsed open sleigh... Over the fields we went, and it was indeed a jolly and frosty good time.
We were celebrating poppa's birthday and headed out to ye olde sugar bush for some fun in the snow. The horses are Belgians and were beautiful! What big boys! They did a fine job of hauling our butts all through the woods.
Of course, this being Jim's birthday made me think back to how we celebrated his 60th, 5 short years ago. And not to say the sleigh ride and a nice lunch in Millbrook wasn't just lovely, it would be hard to beat his 60th celebrations at the Winter Olympics in Turin.
So, as I promised Jim today, maybe we'll try to be back in Italy, having a gelato, for his 70th birthday? Or heck, let's make it the 66th!
Happy Birthday daddio!
